EEEEEATSCON, Drinks, & a Fort Worth Weekend

 

Missy Robbins’ new restaurant, Misi, did not disappoint, although overall I do think I like Lilia a litttttle bit more! Misi is chic, industrial, and simple: the menu only features appetizers and pastas. The spinach and mascarpone filled tortelli is the best thing on the menu.

EEEEEATSCON activities included eating this Houseman burger (pictured below), drinking lots of RAMONA while eating lemon Milk Bar cake balls, waiting in-line for Jon & Vinny’s (okay my friends did while I brought them spicy margs), drinking out of a chambong at The Riddler, and ending the day with two scoops of Ample Hills.

Tried out Shaker and Spoon - a monthly cocktail club that sends you all the ingredients to try out new cocktails (but you need to provide the liquor). Each month features a different spirit and October’s was gin.

Third annual trip to Harvest Moon Farm & Orchard. If going from Manhattan, you can take the Metro North about an hour and fifteen minutes up and a short taxi to the farm. They have apple picking (go early to mid September if you actually want to pick), cider tastings, a ton of food options, cinnamon sugar donuts, hayrides, live music, and many pumpkins to pick from. Plan on carving out a whole day to get up there and back!

MoxxieMade put on an event with PureWow called “Cocktails & Conversation” and talked all things beauty.

Went to Bon Appetit’s Hot 10 restaurant event in Brooklyn (featuring ten restaurants throughout the entire country).

Favorite drinks were “Geb’s Reviver”: gin, matcha, & pineapple carrot foam and “First You Gotta Do the Truffle Shuffle”: gin, martini & rossi, & truffle oil. The truffle oil on this one was insane. These were featured by Carley Gaskin, the winner of Bombay Sapphire’s Most Imaginative Bartender competition.

NYC’s featured restaurant was Ugly Baby in BK.

Visited TCU (my alma mater) for the weekend to visit my best friends from college. The Blood & Honey is one of the best wheat beers out there. Too bad we lost, wah wahhhhhh.

In Fort Worth, Woodshed Smokehouse is one of my all-time favorite restaurants. Open air seating, frozen margaritas, live music, & Texas BBQ. It’s by Tim Love who also owns Love Shack and Lonesome Dove.
